Cape Verdean Currency
The island republic of Cape Verde, 400 miles off the west coast of Africa, has a special relationship with the state of Rhode Island. For over 150 years, Cape Verdeans have been migrating to New England and have played a significant role in the development of the area’s unique identity. It seems an appropriate excuse, then, to include some of the rarest pieces of that nation’s pre-Independence currency on this website.
