Bank of South County $15

1850s Proof. Durand 2267, Haxby RI-515 G12P ppA, Bowers W-RI-1510-015-G060

“The bank was home to several odd denomination notes, such as this $15 that has a center vignette depicting Agriculture, Industry, and Commerce, as well as side vignettes of Washington on horseback and a sailor with the Stars and Stripes next to a seated maiden. The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. This note was the plate note in Roger Durand’s state catalog. A rare denomination that will not appear very frequently in any form.”
